Every June, music-lovers from all over the world gather at Aldeburgh for the largest music festival in England. Founded in 1948 by the composers Benjamin Britten and Eric Crozier and the singer Peter Pears, it takes place in the l5th-century Church of St Peter and St Paul and in the Jubilee Hall. Additional performances are held in the neighbouring villages of Snape, Orford, Blythburgh and Framlingham. There is also an opera week held at Snape in August/September.
